Cell Line & Cell Culture Development Lab Manager
Location: Foster City, CA
Client is a research-based biopharmaceutical company focused on advancing therapies for life-threatening diseases. We seek a motivated, organized Lab Manager/Coordinator to support the Cell Line and Cell Culture Process Development groups. This role manages daily lab operations, equipment, inventory, and workflow efficiency while ensuring safety and high-quality support for scientific teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, basic operation, and calibrations of lab equipment (e.g., ViCell XR/BLU, Nova Flex/Flex2, RAPIDPoint 500e, OsmoTECH Pro, Cedex Bio HT, AMBR15/250).
- Maintain and calibrate pH/DO probes and benchtop bioreactor components.
- Ensure compliance with EHS requirements.
- Manage pipette calibration and lab consumables/chemical inventory.
- Coordinate lab cleaning, including freezers, cold rooms, and biosafety cabinets.
- Create/update best-practice documentation for equipment and procedures.
- Support media/solution prep, autoclaving, and incubator maintenance.
- Oversee instrument induction, service requests, maintenance, and contracts.
- Provide regular lab updates via email, reports, and presentations.
- Improve lab workflows and manage equipment scheduling.
- Track raw material inventory and remove expired items.
Required Qualifications
- BS 2 years relevant experience or MS 0 years in a scientific discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lab management, supply chain, or inventory systems.
- Hands-on maintenance/calibration of bioprocess equipment (cell counters, analyzers).
- Cell culture experience (shake flasks, media prep, benchtop bioreactors).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Vendor communication and inventory oversight experience.
