What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Services Supervisor - Lead Nurse position at Unicoi County Schools?
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a current Tennessee (RN) license.
- Experience in school, pediatric or public health nursing.
- Current CPR (BLS) Certification
Responsibilities:
- Staff Supervision: Coordinates, trains, and evaluates nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP).
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensures district-wide adherence to state and federal laws (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, Tennessee Code Annotated) and prepares mandatory health reports for the Tennessee Department of Education.
- Protocol Development: Collaborates with consulting physicians to review and sign off on health services protocols and procedures for the district.
- Individualized Health Plans (IHPs): Oversees the development and implementation of IHPs for students with chronic health conditions to ensure they have access to their educational programs.
- 504/ IEP Coordination: Coordinates with 504 Coordinators and the Special Education (SPED) Supervisor to implement and monitor health-related accommodations and services within Section 504 Plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Emergency Preparedness: Coordinates school-specific response teams.
- Public Health Liaison: Serves as the primary link between the school district, the local health department, and community health providers to manage communicable disease outbreaks.
