Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support within a semi busy medical office. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems Practice Fusion preferred but not required, and a strong understanding of administrative procedures to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient service.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in/check-out processes using EMR systems such as Practice Fusion, Epic etc.
- Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate patient flow efficiently utilizing medical scheduling software.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate billing processes.
- Collect payments and process medical collections accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Review and update patient records, ensuring accuracy in documentation review, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and other medical billing procedures.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, documents, and correspondence in compliance with health information management standards.
- Assist with intake procedures, including data entry using typing skills such as 10 key typing and Microsoft Office applications.
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and clerical duties to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure accurate documentation of patient interactions.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is required, especially in clinics or primary care offices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft, Dentrix or similar platforms is highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and multi-line phone systems.
- Previous experience with front desk duties, patient service, clerical support or office management will be beneficial.
