Carpenter

Position Summary:

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing high-quality wooden crates and packaging to safely transport aircraft parts, components, and equipment. This position requires precision craftsmanship, attention to detail, and adherence to aerospace packaging standards to ensure materials are protected during domestic and international shipments

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Follows all safety protocols assigned to the wood shop and facility
• Builds project accurately and within time and budget specifications.
• Completes requisition forms for materials and supplies, and submits to management for processing
• Uses saws, power tools, sanders, hand tools, wood glue, screws, and other tools and fasteners to complete the project.
• Cuts, shapes, and prepares the surfaces of wood and constructs complete project.
• Attaches specified hardware.
• Finishes surfaces according to specifications.
• Identify & implement Continuous Improvement within team to improve productivity, quality and minimize/reduce errors Strict adherence to Company Health & Safety policy by all staff and report issues/concerns (including 5S, Housekeeping, etc.)
• Label and mark crates according to company, customer, and regulatory requirements (e.g., part numbers, orientation, handling instructions).
• Report material shortages or issues with tooling or equipment to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1–2 years of experience in carpentry, woodworking, or crate building (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and meeting deadlines as set by management.
• Ability to appropriately measure and skillfully build.
• Excellent shop math and spatial skills.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to operate panel & table saws, screw & nail guns, staple guns and ability accurately read tape measures.
• Detail-oriented with strict adherence to safety policy and procedure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Warehouse experience
• Aviation parts packing and shipping experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
• Exposure to loud noises.
• Repeated use of hands and arms when operating powered equipment
• Occasional climbing and reaching in crate construction

Working Conditions:

• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
• Exposure to dust and wood particles
• Use of sharp or heavy tools
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Fast pace and tight deadline environment

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
