What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Associate position at Unfold Architecture?
About the Role
We're a small studio looking for an architectural associate who's ready to take on real responsibility. Someone who can run with a project, sweat the details, and talk to clients and contractors like a real person. You'll work across every phase, from early feasibility through construction documents, on residential projects designed specifically for the people and places they belong to.
What You'll Do
- Develop, prepare, and review drawings in Revit and other architectural tools
- Prepare code compliance evaluations and participate in agency reviews covering zoning, building code, and other ordinances
- Contribute to pre-design services like feasibility studies, site selection, and cost analysis
- Review project goals, design standards, and procedures with project managers
- Coordinate design specifications with drawings to keep everything aligned
- Work on a multi-disciplinary team, interacting with clients and contractors throughout the development and contract document phases
- Report on the status of the design process and cost analysis to the right people
- Bring strong technical detailing across a variety of construction materials and building types
- Take on other responsibilities as projects evolve
What You Bring
- 2 years of architectural experience
- A Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture from an accredited program, or comparable hands-on experience
- The ability to communicate ideas persuasively and visually, in writing and out loud
- Working knowledge of building codes such as IRC, IBC, and ADA
- Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and the Adobe Suite
- The self-direction to work independently with minimal supervision
- A track record of doing good work and seeing it through
- The ability to juggle multiple projects at different stages without dropping the thread
- Project management experience is a plus
