Research Scientist: Scientific Data Analysis and Communications
Job Summary
Unearthly Materials Inc. is developing next-generation superconducting materials. We are expanding our R&D program to translate recent breakthroughs into transformative technologies.
We are seeking a Research Scientist: Scientific Data Analysis and Communications with expertise in condensed matter physics or materials science to support the interpretation, analysis, and communication of complex scientific results. This role is designed for a Ph.D. level scientist who can combine rigorous data analysis with exceptional scientific writing and clear analytical thinking. The successful candidate will work across experimental and theory efforts to analyze data, identify key scientific insights, and communicate findings in a clear, accurate, and compelling manner. This includes internal technical reports, manuscript support, research summaries, presentations, white papers, and strategic scientific documents for both expert and non-expert audiences. The role also involves evaluating relevant literature, comparing internal results with external scientific reports, assessing the consistency and strength of reported findings, and helping develop clear scientific context around emerging results in the field. The ideal candidate will bring strong judgment, intellectual independence, and the ability to translate complex datasets, both internal and published, into actionable scientific understanding, while contributing to a high standard of scientific rigor in research communications and publication related materials.
Key Responsibilities
·Analyze and interpret experimental datasets from materials research, including transport, magnetization, spectroscopy, diffraction, and related measurements.
·Identify trends, inconsistencies, and key scientific signals across large and complex datasets.
·Prepare clear, rigorous internal technical reports, scientific summaries, and data-driven presentations.
·Support the preparation of manuscripts, white papers, technical memoranda, and external scientific communications.
·Translate complex scientific findings into clear written material suitable for both technical and broader strategic audiences.
·Critically evaluate relevant published literature and compare external scientific reports with internal findings to help establish scientific context, consistency, and rigor.
·Assist in reviewing and synthesizing published results across the field to identify important trends, unresolved questions, and areas where further analytical clarification may be needed.
·Help build and maintain a high standard for analytical rigor, documentation, and scientific clarity across research programs.
·Assist in organizing, comparing, and synthesizing results from multiple experiments, datasets, and scientific workstreams to guide program direction.
·Contribute to publication-related scientific support materials, technical responses, and research summaries as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
·Contribute to scientific responses, technical diligence materials, and supporting research documentation as needed.
·Help develop clear data-analysis workflows and internal standards for presentation of scientific results.
·Support the preparation of scientific figures, supplementary explanations, and technical summaries.
·Assist with literature review and comparison of internal results with published work in condensed matter physics, materials science, and superconductivity.
