Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional/Supporting Living Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, while promoting independence and dignity.


Key Roles and Responsibilities;

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, focusing on their unique abilities and preferences.
  • Uphold resident rights and ensure a safe, respectful environment for all clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to provide comprehensive care.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
  • CNA, Caretaker and IHSS - 1 year experience minimum.


1. Behavioral Support & De-escalation

  • Implement individualized behavior support plans (BSPs) as directed by behavioral specialists or clinical teams.
  • Use proactive, trauma-informed, and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Recognize early signs of agitation or distress and intervene appropriately.
  • Safely de-escalate challenging behaviors using approved, non-restrictive methods.


2. Client-Centered Support

  • Respect client autonomy and promote choice-making, even during difficult behavioral episodes.
  • Engage clients in daily routines, activities, and skill-building tailored to their behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Foster trust and rapport to support emotional regulation and cooperation.


3. Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally and consistently with behavior consultants, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Report behavioral incidents accurately, thoroughly, and promptly using designated documentation systems.
  • Attend team meetings and provide input on behavior plans, interventions, and progress updates.


4. Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe environment for clients, staff, and the community during behavioral incidents.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including emergency procedures and behavior intervention policies.
  • Monitor for changes in physical or mental health that may influence behavioral patterns.


5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete incident reports, behavior tracking logs, and daily notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Follow state and agency regulations for documentation, confidentiality, and client rights.
  • Support audits, reviews, and compliance checks related to behavior management.


6. Training & Professional Development

  • Attend required training sessions, including CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), trauma-informed care, and person-centered planning, CPR/FA etc.
  • Seek ongoing education and feedback to improve behavior management skills.
  • Understand and apply cultural competence in behavioral support.


7. Advocacy & Empowerment

  • Support clients in expressing their needs and goals, even when challenged by behavioral barriers.
  • Encourage participation in community and recreational activities to reduce isolation and improve social skills.
  • Promote dignity, respect, and a strengths-based approach in all interactions.

General Requirements;

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· 1 years of experience working with disabled adults required

· 1 years of experience coaching and mentoring others preferred

· Valid driver’s license required/Updated Vehicle Registration/Updated Vehicle Insurance required

· Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

* Evenings, Overnight, Holidays, Weekends and 24 hours care needed *

Experience:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Caretaker: 1 year (Preferred)
  • In Home Supportive Services: 1 year (Preferred)
