Underground Ministries is a quickly growing nonprofit in Skagit Valley, WA working to build relationships of embrace and trust between people returning from incarceration and the communities to which they return across Washington State and beyond—for local transformation and mutual healing.
We are a growing team of 10 staff with a $1M annual budget, supporting prison reentry through authentic relationships, a variety of community partners, and story-driven movement-building.
Position Overview
We’re hiring a Finance & Systems Manager to lead and strengthen our financial and operational systems.
This is a mid-level leadership role that integrates finance, systems, and development operations. The right candidate will lead financial systems and reporting; partner on strategy, helping ensure our organization grows with clarity, accountability, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the organization’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning to support long-term growth and sustainability.
- Manage multiple program budgets for grant reporting
- Oversee fundraising software capabilities and possible platform migration
- Lead reconciliation across financial and donor systems
- Develop financial reports and track key metrics (KPIs)
- Oversee donor data systems and fundraising analytics
- Improve systems integration (e.g., Funraise, QuickBooks)
- Provide operations support, including payroll coordination and light HR management related to finance
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, or development operations
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports; experience in financial report writing and presentation for diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with public accounting practices; experience managing compliance requirements related to nonprofit organizations.
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- Experience managing systems and projects
- Familiarity with donor databases and reporting tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Alignment with our mission and faith-based values and practices
Preferred:
- Experience with grant tracking and nonprofit reporting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Lived experience with incarceration or the legal system
