Underground Contractors, Inc. (UCI) is looking for an experienced Directional Drill Foreman to join our underground construction team in the Toledo area.
If you know how to run a bore and you're ready to lead a crew, we want to talk to you.
We're looking for someone with hands-on horizontal directional drilling experience who understands underground utilities, locating, safe excavation, equipment, production, and what it takes to keep a crew moving.
You do not have to come specifically from telecommunications. Experience in HDD for telecom, gas, electric, water, pipeline, or other underground utility construction may be considered.
What You'll Do
- Lead and work alongside an underground bore crew
- Operate and oversee horizontal directional drilling equipment
- Coordinate the drill operator, locator and laborers
- Review bore paths, prints and utility markings
- Verify locates and ensure utilities are properly exposed before drilling
- Troubleshoot changing ground conditions, utility conflicts and equipment issues
- Coordinate conduit installation, excavation, pits, vaults, pedestals and restoration
- Keep the crew productive and projects moving safely
- Complete daily job and production documentation
- Communicate with management, inspectors and project personnel
- Maintain UCI safety and damage-prevention standards
Who We're Looking For
We want to hear from you if you have real, hands-on directional drilling experience.
Current or previous titles may include:
Directional Drill Operator HDD Operator Bore Operator Drill Operator/Locator Bore Crew Lead HDD Foreman Underground Utility Foreman
Previous Foreman experience is valuable, but we are also interested in experienced HDD operators who are ready to step into a crew leadership role.
Experience operating equipment such as Vermeer, Ditch Witch or comparable directional drilling equipment is strongly preferred.
CDL Class A, underground telecommunications experience, locating experience, DigiTrak/Subsite experience, manhole installation and deep conduit experience are all valuable qualifications.
