About Us
Uncommon James is a fast-growing lifestyle brand founded by Kristin Cavallari, headquartered in Nashville. We design and deliver jewelry, home, and beauty products across retail, wholesale, and ecommerce channels. We’re entrepreneurial, collaborative, and customer-obsessed — and we’re looking for team members who thrive in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across our accounting operations. This role owns the monthly close process, manages reconciliations across multiple sales platforms, and partners cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, and technology teams. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting while also supporting broader financial strategy.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and execute the monthly close process with accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules (bank, AR, deferred revenue, fixed assets, etc.).
- Reconcile and analyze data across Shopify, Amazon, TikTok, Stripe, Anthropologie, and other channels.
- Maintain tax compliance, including sales tax and international filings.
- Support external audits and ensure strong internal controls.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reporting for leadership and retail teams.
- Partner with marketing, merchandising, and IT on financial workflows, campaign expense analysis, and tax coding for new SKUs.
- Contribute to process improvements and special projects related to ecommerce integrations and new systems.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA a plus.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in retail or ecommerce.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF); NetSuite and Celigo experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
