What are the responsibilities and job description for the SECURITY OFFICER position at UNC Health Southeastern?
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs safety & security functions that include: prevention or detection of intrusion, entry, larceny, vandalism, abuse, fire, or trespass; prevention, observation or detection of any unauthorized activity on SE Health property; protection of patients, visitors, staff, patrons and persons lawfully authorized to be on the premises; control, regulate, or direct the flow or movement of the public whether by vehicle or otherwise as required to assure the protection of SE Health property.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:
Must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated proficiency in written English. Must have personally owned semi-automatic handgun of either 9mm or 40 caliber size. Unarmed certification must be attained within 20 days of hire and armed certification must be completed within 30 days of hire. Must successfully complete OC defensive spray training. Must possess valid US Driver’s License from state of residency with zero points. Must be able to maintain insurability with SE Health’s designated insurance carrier. Proficiency in the use of semi-automatic handgun required. (Basic handgun use and safety will be tested prior to job offer. Minimum physical qualification test required prior to job offer.)
Preferred: Above average employment history and/or prior security experience. Experience with Microsoft Word and Spell Check.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication during interaction with others. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently. Incumbent is required to attain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and Non-Crisis Intervention certification.
