What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Surgical Technologist – First Assist position at UNC Health Southeastern?
POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist reports to Surgical Services Leadership. During surgery, functions under the direction and direct supervision of the attending surgeon within the operating room. Performs duties within the scope and practice of position set by the Association of Surgical Technologists.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program. Minimum 3 years of experience as a certified surgical technician. Current Surgical Technology and
Surgical First Assistant Certification. Current BLS. Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and
clinical practice relevant to patients of all ages. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before
being allowed to perform independently.
Preferred: At least 1 year experience as CST-FA. Experience first assisting with Da Vinci XI Robot.
