Position Overview: The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and state, local, and federal requirements. This role also includes maintaining sterile supply stock. Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $16.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize medical instruments in line with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain sterile supply stock and ensure accurate inventory levels.

Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in Sterile Processing is preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification:
- IAHCSMM (HSPA) Sterile Processing certification must be obtained within two (2) years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and competency in aseptic techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with diverse groups.
- Competency in sterilizing instruments within hospital policies and certification limits.
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service and teamwork skills.
Physical Demands:
- Lifts, positions, and transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and mobility.
- Prolonged sitting/standing/walking.
- Requires bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to blood-borne diseases.
- Frequent exposure to hazards from electrical equipment, chemicals, and specimens.
- Requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to vibration, cramped spaces, and ionizing/non-ionizing radiation (e.g., x-ray, microwave).
