What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Cath Tech position at UNC Health Appalachian?
Position Summary
The Cardiac Cath Tech performs angiography, special procedures, and cardiac catheterization at a technical level that will require independent judgment. The Cardiac Cath Tech will assist the physicians in all aspects of invasive cardiology and radiology including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters following policy and procedure.
The Cardiac Cath Tech’s decisions and actions with patients and families are determined in an ethical manner practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each person. Effectively communicates with patients/families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers. All areas of practice and delivery are provided to achieve and maintain top decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety. The Cardiac Cath Tech follows and adheres to UNCH-A policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior.

Compensation for this position is based on experience and qualifications, starting at $33.44 per hour.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Education
-
Graduate of AMA accredited school of Radiologic Technology or RCIS program.

Completion of an approved CVT program or equivalent on the job training is acceptable
Experience
-
Clinical Radiographic and Imaging experience from an AMA accredited Radiologic Program

Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab or special procedures preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification
-
Registered as an AART in the state of N. Carolina
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire
-
ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire is required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills

Competent in delivering safe and effective care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures

Knowledge of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department

Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
