Pay Rate
Up to $58,811 - based on length of contract

Minimum Experience/Education
  • Education level: Completed Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Education background: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, or closely related areas
  • Level/years of experience: 0 – 2 years
  • Great communication skills, ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environments, have proficiency in Microsoft Office

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Education level: Completed master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, or closely related areas
  • Previous research experience
  • CPR training

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete trainings required for the study team and ensure all study staff maintains their trainings as well, including (but not limited to):
    • CITI Research Trainings (Good Clinical Practice, Social & Behavioral Research/IRB, Biomedical Research/IRB, Health Information Privacy & Security
    • Minors on Campus Training
    • First Aid, CPR, & AED Training
  • Maintain accurate records related to personnel, including tracking employee training certificates, revising the study team organizational structure chart, and updating the project’s Emergency Plan
  • Coordinate all points of interaction between team members and multiple university departments to define objectives and timelines from start to finish (e.g., scheduling basketball courts for testing)
  • Identify purchasing needs and work with a post-award specialist to request supply and equipment purchases, which includes: maintaining accurate records of purchases and inventory for the study budget; collaborating with vendors regarding equipment and technology maintenance, replacement, and warranty; and requesting electronic gift cards for participants and troubleshooting if gift cards are not delivered
  • Coordinate with the post-award specialist to assist with the onboarding process of new team members
  • Participate in active recruitment of participants (i.e., community and school events; may be evenings and/or weekends), perform telephone screenings to verify eligibility and receive Medical Director’s clearance for participation, conduct participant study orientations, schedule participants for testing, and obtain participant and parental consent
  • Communicate with participants and their parents/guardians throughout the entire study enrollment
  • Perform metabolic data collection: This involves setting up equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly, preparing the testing environment according to procedural standards, performing anthropometric measurements, administering tests to determine metabolic rates, recording test results, using GoPro camera to record testing protocol, and manually tallying steps
  • Schedule research staff for data collection visits, taking into account availability, preferences, and commitments; Communicate schedule updates and changes in a timely and clear manner
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the research study, including protocols, data collection forms, and reports, including assisting postdoctoral researchers in downloading data and forms post-testing
  • Assist in training junior staff to ensure consistency in results during testing and to achieve high-quality data acquisition
  • Present project reports, displaying a visual representation of the project timelines to keep the team motivated
  • Attend full study team weekly meetings and any additional sub-team meetings specifically regarding issues related to data collection, etc.
  • Contribute to collaborative team discussions regarding issues that may arise throughout the study, experiences with participants, equipment issues, study progress, etc.
  • Participate in additional projects related to research dissemination, including (but not limited to) literature reviews, validating video recordings, or conference abstract submissions
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker’s Compensation provisions.

However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker – i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods.
