Work Schedule
Primary work schedule matches the costume lab hours and the performing arts performance schedule for the Academic Year. Majority of lab hours occur from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and performances occur from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm Monday-Friday. May have limited shifts on Saturday. Detailed schedule of build calendar and technical rehearsals will be distributed during the interview process
Pay Rate
25.00/hr
Minimum Experience/Education

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Bachelor’s degree in the performing arts
Experience with dance and theatre in an educational setting
Working backstage during performances (Wardrobe)
Creative problem solving
Duties and Responsibilities
Create costume patterns of designer’s renderings using draping, drafting, and/or commercial patterns.
Cut garments and communicate construction plans clearly to students and student workers.
Fit costumes on performers and adjust patterns as needed.
Supervise and mentor students and student workers through the build process.
Construct/alter costumes as needed.
Assist with training wardrobe students, including coaching best practices for quick changes and costume presets.
Play an important role in the education of performing arts students in the College of Arts and Architecture.
Other Work/Responsibilities
Individual must be comfortable safely carrying items weighing 40 lbs, using hand trucks, carts, and working on their feet for extended periods of time.

- Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker’s Compensation provisions.

Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker – i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.
