No Weekends, No Holidays and Great Benefits.About the Role:The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in healthcare by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for patient use. This position is essential to maintaining a safe and sterile environment, preventing infections, and supporting successful medical procedures. The technician meticulously inspects, assembles, and sterilizes instruments according to established protocols and regulatory standards. They collaborate closely with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to patient safety and the overall efficiency of outpatient services.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program or equivalent experience.Basic knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and medical terminology.Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain meticulous records.Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle instruments safely.Qualifications:Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent.Experience working in a surgical center sterile processing department.Familiarity with electronic tracking systems for instrument sterilization and inventory management.Strong understanding of regulatory standards such as those from The Joint Commission.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.Responsibilities:Receive, sort, and decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment following strict infection control guidelines.Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage, ensuring all items meet quality standards before sterilization.Assemble instrument sets and trays according to surgical procedure requirements and hospital protocols.Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and chemical sterilizers, monitoring cycles and documenting results.Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments for procedures.Adhere to all safety, regulatory, and compliance standards including OSHA guidelines.Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to enhance sterile processing practices.Skills:The required skills enable the technician to perform precise cleaning, inspection, and sterilization of medical instruments, ensuring patient safety and compliance with health standards. Attention to detail is critical when assembling instrument trays and verifying sterilization cycles to prevent contamination.
