Role Summary

Leads the electrical maintenance function across plant operations, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance of all electrical systems and equipment. Drives proactive maintenance strategies, rapid response to failures, and continuous improvement initiatives to support uninterrupted production. Provides technical leadership, supervises electrical personnel, and ensures compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements in a heavy industrial environment.

Purpose

Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems by implementing structured maintenance programs, leading technical problem solving, and enforcing safety and compliance standards to support plant performance and operational continuity.

Key Accountabilities

· Develop and manage a comprehensive electrical maintenance program to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

· Ensure all urgent electrical failures are addressed and resolved in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

· Utilize SAP to create and manage work orders, track maintenance history, and manage parts inventory.

· Maintain accurate records of electrical work including project plans, budgets, and compliance documentation.

· Lead the electrical department, setting priorities and aligning resources with operational needs.

· Ensure all electrical systems and equipment comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

· Conduct safety audits, implement safety protocols, and train staff to minimize electrical hazards.

· Provide technical expertise for new installations, equipment failures, troubleshooting, and training.

· Analyze equipment data to predict failures and identify root causes.

· Manage all contractor activities related to electrical maintenance and projects.

· Plan and oversee electrical shutdowns, ensuring safe and effective execution of work.

· Research, source, and procure parts required for maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.

· Utilize software tools to program, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.

· Communicate key directives and operational updates from management to the electrical team.

· Collaborate with planning functions to develop and update daily and weekly work schedules.

· Review and update technical documentation including manuals, drawings, and bills of materials.

· Ensure all required inspections and calibrations are completed accurately and on schedule.

· Participate in interviewing and hiring decisions for electrical personnel.

· Participate in the on-call rotation as part of the maintenance leadership team.

· Drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices and equipment performance.

Knowledge

· Strong knowledge of electrical systems in heavy industrial environments including cement or mining operations.

· Experience with VFDs, low and medium voltage switchgear, I/O systems, protective relays, industrial motors, and instrumentation.

· Working knowledge of SAP or similar maintenance management systems.

· Understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and industrial electrical standards.

· Knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety practices.

· Familiarity with MSHA regulations and safety requirements (preferred).

Problem Solving

· Diagnoses and resolves complex electrical failures in a high demand production environment.

· Applies data driven analysis to identify root causes and prevent recurring issues.

· Balances urgent operational needs with long term equipment reliability.

· Develops practical solutions under time and operational constraints.

Interactions and Influence

· Direct interaction with Maintenance Manager and plant leadership team.

· Collaborates closely with operations, planning, safety, and engineering teams.

· Leads and influences electricians and contractors to ensure alignment with plant priorities.

· Communicates effectively across all levels to ensure clarity on priorities and safety expectations.

Impact

Direct: Ensures electrical system reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe plant operations.

Indirect: Enhances production efficiency, extends equipment life, and reinforces a strong safety culture.

Experience and Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred.

· Minimum of five years of experience as an Electrical Supervisor or Coordinator in heavy industry, mining, or cement operations.

· Minimum of five years of hands-on electrical experience in an industrial environment.

· Proven experience leading and supervising electrical teams.

· Experience in cement or mining industry strongly preferred.

· Preferred certifications and training include MSHA Part 46, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety certifications.

Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
