UNA LOCATION: Portage Industries - Ravenna, OH
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for transporting our clients to and from our facility daily, plus occasional outings, following all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Operates motor vehicles in adherence to agent, local and state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrates physical ability to ensure driving competency and efficiency
- Works cooperatively with other staff, the individuals served, families and other agencies in completion of duties assigned.
- Carry out basic written/oral instructions (often detailed); read/copy/record figures accurately
- Inspects and maintains cleanliness of vehicles; maintains and/or prepares required logs/reports.
- Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements
- May be required to restrain individuals who present risk of harm to self or others
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS and CHARACTERISTICS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years experience driving large vans to transport individuals preferred
- Warm, caring demeanor
- Ability to communicate verbally; add, subtract, read, write and follow instructions
- Must be insurable to drive
- Reliable punctuality and attendance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, stretch, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push clients in wheelchairs if necessary. May be required to physically restrain client if behavior is a danger to themselves or others. Eyesight capabilities must be sufficient to perform job functions. Hearing must be adequate to perform these functions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess valid drivers license w/ less than 6 points
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment physical exam
- Must obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR/AED Certificates
- Complete all DODD training requirements
FLSA: Hourly non-exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri approx 7am-3pm; occasional nights/weekends
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 90 days
