Umpqua Community College is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Development Consultant to support the planning and launch of a new Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Physical Therapist Assistant program.
This position is classified as a temporary, exempt consulting role and does not constitute a permanent faculty appointment, instructional assignment, or bargaining-unit position. The Consultant functions in an advisory and project-lead capacity, comparable in expertise to a PTA Program Director, but without ongoing operational, supervisory, or instructional responsibility once the program is launched.
The Consultant works under the general direction of the Dean of Allied Health Professions (or designee) and collaborates with college leadership, faculty, facilities, finance, enrollment and external partners to ensure program development aligns with CAPTE accreditation standards, state licensure requirements, and UCC policies.

Required Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with current or recent eligibility for U.S. licensure.
- Bachelor's degree minimum; Master's or Doctoral degree preferred.
- Significant experience in Physical Therapist Assistant education, including prior service as a Program Director, Associate Director, or senior faculty member.
- Demonstrated expertise with CAPTE accreditation standards, policies, and processes.
- Experience with PTA program development, expansion, or major programmatic change.
- Prior consulting experience in higher education or allied health program development.
- Experience working with community colleges and associate degree health programs.
- Knowledge of Oregon physical therapy practice and licensure requirements (or comparable state frameworks).
- Experience collaborating with facilities planners, architects, and simulation or equipment vendors.
- Accreditation and regulatory expertise (CAPTE)
