Job Description Summary The Head Baseball Coach will oversee all baseball operations within the athletic department, including but not limited to planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of all baseball student-athletes, along with fiscal program management for the UMES Division I Baseball Program. The Head Coach is responsible for leading and supervising a staff of Assistant Coaches who may have specific responsibilities related to pitching, hitting, fielding, player development, and recruiting. Responsibilities: • Direct assigned Assistant Coaches in the overall planning and execution of the intercollegiate baseball program. • Recruit quality prospective student-athletes and ensure timely submission of their academic records for admissions. • Monitor the academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed. • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program. • Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA, Conference, and University regulations. Coach team members individually and in groups and demonstrate proper baseball techniques and fundamentals. • Develop and implement game strategies, lineups, and position assignments. • Oversee player development in all aspects of the game, including hitting, pitching, fielding, strength, and conditioning. • Promote the athletic program and baseball program through community events, public speaking engagements, fundraising activities, donor engagement, camps, clinics, and marketing initiatives. • Ensure adherence to all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations by student-athletes, coaches, and support staff. • Manage and monitor the baseball program budget, including travel, equipment, and operational expenses. • Coordinate team travel, scheduling, and other daily program operations. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, academic achievement, and personal development. • Take charge of and maintain the baseball field surface and facilities in partnership with university Physical Demands: • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk. • May require lifting. • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally. • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment. Preference: • Previous playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree.
