UMCF is seeking a Home Study and Post Release Case Manager to be part of the Caminos Program serving recently immigrated unaccompanied children and the individuals sponsoring them here in the United States. Case Managers should have experience in conducting assessments, preferably Home Studies according to the requirements in the state where services are being provided. Case Managers should be skilled at writing professional, thorough assessment reports. They will have knowledge of local community social services and should have specialized experience working with immigrant populations. Caseworkers should be knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare.

Position Summary

Home Study Services: Case Managers will conduct the home study process through a combination of in-home visits and interviews, phone call and other investigative activities. They will utilize and gather information to investigative interviews with shelter staff, client and prospective sponsors, home visit observations, conduct background investigations of all adults living in sponsor home. Conduct collaborative psycho-educational process with the youth and sponsor to identify supports, educate and prepare prospective sponsors and produce comprehensive, time sensitive written reports.

Post Release Services: Assess safety, preform ongoing case management, make appropriate referrals. Develop care plan, crisis and safety plan, provide crisis intervention, facilitate meetings, evaluate youth progress, complete timely documentation, transition/discharge planning and follow up.

Overall Responsibilities: Acts as primary point to contact for youth, family, sponsors, and external agencies. Responsible for driving youth and sponsor home within a 200-mile radius and travel via airplane to homes beyond a 200-mile radius. Help build culturally competent outreach, Coordinate with other agencies

Continuing Education

· Paid training in Evidence Based and Trauma Informed Practices is provided

Minimum Qualifications

· Bilingual Spanish/English Required (speaking, reading and writing)

· Bachelor’s Degree Required (Behavioral Sciences, Human Services or Social Service fields)

· 2 years of experience working with families and/or children in the child welfare system

· Must have strong documentation skills

· Ability to work effectively with families and community partners

· Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

· Travel Required

Pay: $47,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
