This PI Analyst will work closely with hospital staff and the Performance Improvement team to improve compliance with Sepsis metrics. Duties will include abstracting sepsis measures and performing real-time observation and education in the hospital to assure that patients with sepsis receive the best care. They will also contribute to the Sepsis Committee and potentially help with other abstractions, such as MIPS abstraction. The overall goal will be to reduce mortality across the hospital through adopting and maintaining Sepsis bundle compliance.Job Summary
The Process Improvement Analyst will collaborate with Accreditation Service staff and other clinical operations staff throughout the hospital to abstract and analyze data, trends, and staff operations, to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Assist with development and implementation of regulatory education for UMC staff
- Abstract data for analysis, observe and report on trends, create corrective action plans to help the hospital achieve strategic plans and goals
- Works collaboratively with assigned departments on specific metrics
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- RN licensure from the State of Texas Board of Nursing or recognized compact state license, preferred
- Bachelor’s science in Nursing required or earned within 3 years.
- 2 years previous quality improvement, analytics, and/or informatics experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Performance Improvement Certification required or able to obtain within 12 months of hire into the role
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Exercise independent judgement and able to make independent decisions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite products, including spreadsheet applications
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires interaction with Director level staff, physicians, and other nursing and medical staff throughout the hospital
Physical Capabilities
Light lifting, frequent walking and sitting, hearing and clear speech patterns are necessary, as frequent communication is involved. Visual acuity is necessary for prolonged computer activity is necessary
Environmental Working Conditions
Exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals is high.
