What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Engineer position at Umbraco?
Solutions Engineer, North Carolina, US
Are you passionate about technology and sales, energized by meaningful conversations, and eager to help businesses find the right digital solution?
At Umbraco, we’re on the lookout for a motivated and personable Solutions Engineer to join our growing team in North America. You’ll play a key role in driving our Direct Sales efforts in the US and Canada — especially within the Enterprise space — but you’ll also jump in to support across other areas when needed.
This is your chance to step into a high-impact, relationship-driven role where you’ll get to work closely with exciting clients, collaborate with our global team, and help shape the future of how we do sales across the Atlantic.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will be reporting to Jake Compton, VP Sales US, and you will:
- Engage directly with potential clients through product demos, discovery calls, and technical discussions.
- Partner with the sales team to ensure a smooth and professional sales journey.
- Take part in strategic outreach via calls, emails, CRM discovery, and follow-ups to boost qualified leads.
- Represent Umbraco at conferences and client events, helping to build both pipeline and brand.
- Stay up to date on our full product catalog (CMS, Cloud, Heartcore, and more!) and share your knowledge internally and externally.
- Collaborate with other teams — from our sales team (SUITS) and Finance team (Fishtank) — to align sales efforts and support our customers.
- Support smaller-ticket sales where needed and always keep CRM hygiene top-notch.
- Prioritize revenue-driving opportunities in the US, with Canada as a close second.
- Identify potential cross-sell opportunities in collaboration with our trusted partners.
What we’re looking for
At Umbraco, we care about people. That’s why the most important qualification is your personality: who you are, what values you have, and how you interact with other people. We are looking for an engaging and positive team player with a take-charge attitude and commitment to getting things done.
Besides that, we expect you to have:
- Experience in B2B sales, preferably in a SaaS or CMS environment.
- A confident, engaging communication style — both written and spoken.
- A self-motivated, curious mindset with the ability to work independently (and remotely).
- The ability to translate technical knowledge into value-based conversations.
- A collaborative spirit — you’re a team player who enjoys feedback and shared wins.
- A positive, professional, and down-to-earth attitude.
Bonus points if you have:
- Knowledge of Umbraco products.
- Experience working in or supporting branch offices.
- A willingness to travel occasionally for events or client meetings.
What we offer
At Umbraco, you’ll find more than just a job. You’ll be part of a people-first culture that values curiosity, teamwork, and doing good work together. We offer:
- A collaborative, friendly, and inclusive team environment
- Health Insurance
- 401(k) plan option
- Paid vacation and sick leave
- Observed U.S. holidays
Practicalities
- Working hours: Full-time 40 hours a week
- First six month fully on-site as you learn the ropes from a Senior Solutions Engineer
- Then on, we will have a flexible arrangement with around three days on-site
- Preferred start date: As soon as possible
- Place of work: Umbraco, LCC, 2115 Rexford Rd, Suite 470, NC 28211 Charlotte, United States of America
