Our Risk Shared Services team is focused on delivering enterprise-wide risk, compliance, and business solutions within the Archer platform and assisting Corporate Risk Services leadership with supporting UMB’s risk committees including reporting/dashboards and management of strategic projects.
As the Risk Shared Services Manager, you will be responsible for directing UMB’s strategy for the Risk Shared Services Program. You will serve as a trusted, influential advisor, and active participant in the ongoing administration of UMB’s Risk Shared Services Program working directly with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and senior management. You will also oversee the design, implementation, administration, and enhancement of risk shared services capabilities, programs, processes, and procedures though consistent demonstration of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) concepts and understanding of UMB’s business / technical requirements and risk platforms. This role reports to our CISO and a dotted line to the CRO. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves other multiple initiatives as assigned by Corporate Risk leadership.
This role is hybrid working Monday to Thursday on-site, and remotely on Friday at our downtown Kansas City, MO corporate office.

How You’ll Spend Your Time
- Advise the CISO, CRO and support corporate risk services by enabling enterprise governance, risk management and compliance programs within the Archer IRM platform.
- Establish strategy, roadmap, and oversee implementation and management of UMB’s enterprise Archer IRM platform aligned with business objectives. This includes interfacing with organizational stakeholders to understand functional/non-functional requirements, translate into actionable plans aligned with the Archer IRM platform, and drive effective execution and delivery of services.
- Establish working relationships across UMB to ensure risk shared services strategy aligns with and enables the business to achieve their goals within risk appetite and while meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the single enterprise point of contact and owner of UMB’s Archer IRM platform for internal business stakeholders, Information Technology, and Archer (vendor).
- Support the development and enforcement of Company policies and Archer Standards within the solution as it relates to data security and access controls, data governance and change control.
- Assist Corporate Risk Services leadership with supporting UMB’s risk committees including reporting/dashboards and management of strategic projects.
- Participate actively in the department’s management team and execute on strategic objectives to further progress the effectiveness of the department.
- Hire, develop and retain effective associates including defining roles and responsibilities, driving performance, developing talent (including succession planning), and rewarding performance.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline OR equivalent work experience, AND at least 7 years of relevant experience in Risk Shared Services and understanding of Archer IRM platform including back-office functionality.
- You have demonstrated advanced knowledge of governance, risk & compliance (GRC) concepts and a collaborative attitude to support cross-functional goals and objectives.
- You have advanced experience in the execution of risk management principles, including risk identification, assessment, decisioning and reporting.
- You have advanced experience in program/project and organizational management skills with the ability to effectively partner and communicate with stakeholders across and at multiple levels of an organization.
- You are results-driven with ability to manage a diverse team and multiple complex assignments, set and adjust priorities, and manage team assignments based on criticality, in a timely and professional manner.
- You have experience in hiring, developing, and retaining effective associates, including defining roles and responsibilities, driving performance, developing talent and rewarding or correcting performance.
- You have provided leadership and coaching to direct reports and other Corporate Information Security and Privacy associates where appropriate and productive.
- You have banking or financial industry experience.
- You have related certification or accreditation (i.e. Archer, PMP, etc.).
