GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The District Attorney's Investigator helps in everyday operations and workflow management. The investigator assists the District Attorney, Chief Deputy District Attorneys, and deputy prosecutors with cases and upcoming hearings by gathering information, locating relevant records, analyzing police reports and evidence, locating witnesses, interviewing, writing reports, testifying in court, completing criminal history worksheets and preparing witnesses for the presentation of cases in court. Throughout the criminal justice process, the position is responsible for investigating a variety of cases that range from violations to felonies, which include high-profile and complex criminal cases.
REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
High school diploma or equivalent, although a college degree is preferred. Paralegal training or experience in the related field, with emphasis on witness interviewing. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to communicate with angry or hostile individuals. Ability to work with urgent timelines, good with organizational abilities. CJIS/LEDS certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, valid Oregon Driver's License, and safe driving record. Have a willingness to work independently and as a team member. Maintain good working relationships with other employees, officials, outside agencies, and the public. Experience using a computer, the internet, and general office skills are required. Consistent record of reliable attendance and adherence to designated work hours to maintain team productivity and meet organizational standards. This is a safety sensitive position subject to satisfactory results of a pre-employment drug screen. Must successfully pass a background check.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
