Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition
- Support medication administration following care plans and ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and sanitation tasks in compliance with health standards
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster emotional well-being and reduce feelings of isolation
- Follow established protocols for emergency response including CPR and first aid procedures when required
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Proven background in caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory-related conditions
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism demonstrates versatility in caregiving skills
- Knowledge of care plans, medication administration, patient monitoring, and vital signs measurement is essential
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, hospice care practices, and working with seniors enhances your ability to deliver quality care
- Hands-on experience with patient observation, heavy lifting techniques, and the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
equipment is advantageous - Strong communication skills developed through social work or direct support roles contribute to effective resident engagement
