Job Title: Mold Maker I – Plastic Injection Molding
Location: Mebane, NC
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Overtime as needed)
Position Summary:
The Mold Maker I supports senior mold makers in building new molds and repairing injection, EPP, and insert molds. This position is hands-on and ideal for candidates eager to grow technical mold-making skills while ensuring precision, quality, and machine efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble and assemble molds safely, efficiently, and without damage.
- Repair and maintain injection, EPP, and insert molds under supervision.
- Set up, program, and operate CNC, manual mill, lathe, sinker EDM, and surface grinder.
- Assemble and troubleshoot hot runner systems, including wiring and multimeter testing.
- Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Review and follow work instructions from blueprints, e-files, or verbal direction.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on shop equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement and team collaboration activities.
- Accurately document work using Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, follow all safety standards, and wear PPE.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mold making, mold repair, or mold maintenance.
- Proficient in reading micrometers, calipers, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of shop math (fractions, decimals, measurements).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Consistent work history and job stability required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of related experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic MasterCam or CNC programming skills.
- Forklift experience a plus.
- Ability to conceptualize tooling and mold solutions.
