Role Description
Ultraview Archery is seeking a hands-on Machine Shop Manager to take full ownership of our in-house CNC machining operations. This is an end-to-end leadership role responsible for running and scaling a high-output machine shop, supporting both current production and future growth.
You will lead daily operations of a shop currently consisting of three Haas CNC mills, with plans to expand to six machines over the next 12 months. This role goes beyond maintenance or programming. You will be accountable for hitting production targets, improving machining processes, and building the systems needed to scale efficiently.
You will work closely with operations leadership while maintaining significant autonomy in how the shop is run, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to build, optimize, and own a production environment.
Role Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Own daily output and ensure production targets are consistently met
- Manage and support one machine operator (with future team growth expected)
- Monitor cycle times, uptime, and throughput — and continuously improve them
- Troubleshoot production issues and eliminate bottlenecks quickly
Programming & Process Optimization
- Optimize existing CNC programs for cycle time, tool life, and quality
- Develop new programs as needed (Fusion)
- Implement standardized processes across machines
Tooling & Fixturing
- Design and implement fixturing for new products and changeovers
- Improve workholding for reliability, repeatability, and automation readiness
- Select and manage cutting tools, tooling strategies, and tool life tracking
Machine Expansion & Commissioning
- Lead installation, setup, and commissioning of new CNC machines
- Develop layouts, workflows, and processes for new equipment
- Ensure new machines are production-ready as quickly as possible
Maintenance & Reliability
- Own preventative maintenance and long-term machine reliability
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical or performance issues
- Establish systems to minimize downtime
Qualifications
- Strong experience with CNC milling (Haas preferred)
- Proficiency in CAM programming (Fusion 360 strongly preferred)
- Experience designing fixturing and workholding solutions
- Able to provide portfolio of past fixturing and machined parts
- Ability to independently run a shop and make decisions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience improving cycle times and production efficiency
- Experience leading production in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Background in lean manufacturing, process improvement
