We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations by documenting findings and procedures as a scribe.
- Perform patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Prepare patients for exams by applying aseptic techniques and ensuring proper positioning.
- Measure and record visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and other relevant ocular measurements.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR system such as Nextgen
- Support medical billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services.
- Uphold infection control standards and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
Experience
- Prior experience in medical office settings, particularly in ophthalmology or optometry, is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and clinical procedures is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR system such as Nextgen or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical records management, and aseptic techniques is essential. This role is integral to delivering compassionate patient care while supporting the clinical team with accurate documentation and efficient workflow management.
