Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to oversee the efficient management of warehouse operations. This leadership role involves coordinating inventory control, supervising shipping and receiving processes, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong team management skills, extensive warehouse experience, and proficiency with warehouse management systems. This position plays a critical role in maintaining seamless logistics operations within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of materials.
- Receive customer parts using MRP system. Ensure that tagging and electronic cataloguing and locating are done properly.
- Respond to customers’ shipping and receiving queries in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate freight schedule for trucking to customers. Design load plans based on completed product each morning.
- Lead and develop warehouse team members, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize forklift and other materials handling equipment safely for heavy lifting and moving goods throughout the facility.
- Maintain accurate and real-time records of shipments using electronic system.
- Occasionally collaborate with third-party logistics providers to coordinate shipments and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols related to warehouse management, heavy lifting, and materials handling.
- Conduct regular audits of customer inventory and shipping/receiving documentation to prevent discrepancies.
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision or management roles.
- Strong background logistics, shipping & receiving operations, and warehouse distribution.
- Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high safety standards (OSHA compliance).
- Mechanical knowledge related to materials handling equipment like forklifts is preferred.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies aimed at optimizing warehouse operations.
- Prior experience with warehouse supervisor responsibilities including staff training, scheduling, and performance management is advantageous.
