Metallurgical Lab Technician

Location: Urbana, OH, 43078

Summary: In this key role, the Metallurgical Lab Technician will work in the lab, performing a variety of tests and evaluation activities.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Prepare metallurgical samples in the lab, evaluate them, and document results.
• Work in parallel with other engineers in the field to learn and apply nondestructive testing, metallurgy, and applicable codes and standards.
• Assist the Lab Manager in various lab activities.
• Work with quality control technicians and document technical reports for clients.
• Using metallurgical data, analyzing statistical data, and conducting failure analysis to identify trends and patterns in production.
  
  
  

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program. Materials Science or Mechanical-based program preferred, G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience using microscopes, SEM, EDS, and other lab and machine shop tools.
• Knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques is preferred.
• Critical thinking and data-driven problem-solving in an analytical, organized fashion.
• Must possess excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
• This person must be self-motivated, well-organized, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic.
