Summary: In this critical role, the Associate Metallurgist will be responsible for the technical support of plant metallurgical processes, including powder milling, spray drying, and sintering. The emphasis is on process capability and continuous improvement. The position will work closely with technical peers in the pressing and forming areas.
Specific responsibilities include:
BS degree in Metallurgical, Materials, or 3-5 years of industrial metallurgical and processing experience preferred.
Hard metal processing, powdered metal, and cemented carbide materials experience preferred.
Knowledge of statistical methods and continuous improvement is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of critical thinking and data-driven problem-solving in an analytical, organized fashion. They will possess excellent oral communication skills and be able to interact with customers confidently and cooperatively. This person must be self-motivated, well-organized, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic.

- Technical support of metallurgical processes, including powder milling, spray drying, and sintering.
- Maintaining and improving process capability, including measurement systems, process monitoring, and control plans, using statistical methods and experimental design.
- Knowledge of material science and laboratory techniques is required to ensure material specifications and product performance.
- Ability and willingness to work directly with process operators, maintenance, manufacturing supervision, and engineering peers in a team-oriented environment.
- Interacting effectively with external equipment vendors and suppliers.
- Proficient in process equipment operations, including computer-controlled furnaces.
- Back-up resource for powder formulation and production planning.
- Back-up resource for Metallurgical Laboratory operation and management.
- Back-up resource for raw material purchasing.
