Ultra I&C is a defense electronics company specializing in tactical data link systems and solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense and allied partners. Our Integration and Test Division supports government certification, field integration, and system verification for some of the most operationally critical command and control programs in the military.
Ultra I&C is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented early to mid-career Test Engineer to join the Integration and Test team supporting the Air Defense Systems Integration (ADSI) program. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to plan, execute, and document system-level integration and functional tests in support of government certification activities. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to build hands-on expertise in Tactical Data Links, military command and control systems, and DoD test processes.

Ultra I&C is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented early to mid-career Test Engineer to join the Integration and Test team supporting the Air Defense Systems Integration (ADSI) program. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to plan, execute, and document system-level integration and functional tests in support of government certification activities. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to build hands-on expertise in Tactical Data Links, military command and control systems, and DoD test processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support test planning, test case development, and test execution for ADSI integration and functional testing activities.
- Document test procedures, test results, anomaly reports, and test summary reports in accordance with program standards.
- Assist in configuring and maintaining test environments, including hardware and software baselines.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and government stakeholders to resolve test discrepancies and track corrective actions.
- Contribute to test automation efforts and toolchain integration (Jira, JAMA, GitLab, Jenkins).
- Support Standards Conformance Test (SCT) preparation and execution with government test agencies.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Provide clear and timely status updates to the Integration and Test Manager.
- High level of initiative with demonstrated ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical material to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (Secret or above). Active clearance preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field — OR equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and basic command-line operations.
- Basic understanding of data interchange formats including Extensible Markup Language (XML) and/or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for system and data flow diagrams.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes, sprint cycles, and backlog management using JIRA or similar tools.
- Familiarity with requirements and test management tools such as JAMA Contour.
- Working knowledge of Tactical Data Links including Link 16, Variable Message Format (VMF), Cursor on Target (CoT), or Common Message Format (CMF).
- Prior U.S. military service, DoD contracting experience, or academic background in defense-related systems is a plus.
