The TIG Welder III performs advanced, precision welding operations with minimal supervision, specializing in thin-wall aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel while maintaining tight tolerances and high cosmetic standards. This role is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints, setting up welding equipment per process specifications, and completing high-quality weldments that meet strict AWS and internal quality standards.

UCT is seeking a skilled TIG Welder III to support precision fabrication in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at our Chandler, AZ facility.
The TIG Welder III performs advanced, precision welding operations with minimal supervision, specializing in thin-wall aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel while maintaining tight tolerances and high cosmetic standards. This role is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints, setting up welding equipment per process specifications, and completing high-quality weldments that meet strict AWS and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review work orders, blueprints, and written instructions to plan welding operations
- Perform advanced TIG welding with minimal supervision on a variety of metals including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel
- Execute welds on components requiring tight tolerances and high cosmetic quality
- Interpret complex blueprints, manufacturing drawings, and AWS welding symbols
- Set up and adjust welding equipment in accordance with weld process specifications (WPS)
- Position and secure components using fixtures, jigs, and precision measuring tools (calipers, squares, tape measures, rules)
- Conduct dimensional checks and visual inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Perform rework as needed to meet specifications
- Maintain welding equipment and perform minor routine maintenance
- Accurately complete documentation for labor tracking, production orders, and inspection results
- Meet daily production targets and maintain on-time performance
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Utilize material handling equipment as needed
- Support continuous improvement efforts and perform additional duties as assigned
- Strong expertise in TIG welding processes, particularly for thin-wall materials
- Proven experience welding aluminum, stainless steel, and steel to tight tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and AWS welding symbols
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, squares, tape measures)
- Ability to produce welds that pass visual inspection and destructive testing
- Working knowledge of welding equipment setup, parameters, and troubleshooting
- Ability to fabricate components by cutting, fitting, and welding metals
- Basic math skills, including measurement conversions and calculations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational welding certification or equivalent training preferred
- 3 years of TIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with precision fabrication and tight-tolerance assemblies
- Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment
- Frequent standing, bending, and use of hands and arms
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Exposure to noise and temperature variations
- Must adhere to all safety and PPE requirements
- Close vision and attention to detail are required
