Global SAP S/4HANA Director (Backend & Integration Lead)

We seek a senior SAP leader with deep S/4HANA backend expertise, advanced HANA engineering capability, and strong enterprise integration experience to oversee a complex multinational landscape. This role directs architecture, operations, global teams, and end-to-end integration strategy.

Role Overview

• Own global SAP S/4HANA technical architecture, platform governance, performance standards, upgrade roadmaps, and availability targets.
• Lead SAP Basis, HANA engineering, and integration teams across multiple regions; oversee workload, standards, and technical delivery.
• Direct enterprise integration strategy using SAP Integration Suite, SAP PO, Cloud Integration, APIs, and middleware across hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
• Support and govern major S/4HANA programs (greenfield, brownfield, hybrid), including migrations, cutovers, upgrades, and stabilization.
• Manage vendors and SAP partners to maintain delivery quality, cost control, and technical alignment.
• Provide escalation leadership for critical issues, ensuring system reliability, security, and high-performance operation.
• Mentor senior engineers, strengthen global capabilities, and embed best practices across the organization.
• Align technical decisions with enterprise architecture and business objectives.

Required Expertise

• SAP Basis Mastery: Global administration, transport governance, performance optimization, kernel updates, monitoring, HA/DR readiness.
• HANA Engineering: In-memory optimization, replication, backup/recovery, advanced performance diagnostics, large-scale tuning.
• Integration Leadership: SAP Integration Suite, PO, Cloud Integration, API lifecycle governance, cross-platform data movement, hybrid landscape interoperability.
• Global SAP Delivery: Experience supporting large, multi-region S/4HANA environments with strict SLAs, high throughput, and regulatory complexity.
• People Leadership: Ability to guide senior technical staff, build global teams, and enforce engineering discipline.
• Cloud & BTP Exposure: Understanding of cloud-based architectures and SAP BTP services.

Qualifications

• 20 years in SAP, including 5 years in S/4HANA architectural and leadership roles.
• Significant experience in Basis, HANA, and enterprise integration across hybrid global environments.
• Proven delivery of complex SAP transformations and multi-region system landscapes.
• Preferred certifications in S/4HANA, HANA, ABAP, or Integration Suite.
