Department: Operations

Shift: Second Shift

Schedule: 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Compensation: $75,000 - $100,000 annually (DOE)

Location: Corona, California

Reports To: Vice President of Operations

Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for leading second-shift manufacturing and packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive production processes. This role collaborates closely with scheduling personnel and cross-functional department leaders to achieve operational goals while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing leadership, continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence. This hands-on position is responsible for directing multiple production lines, optimizing labor and equipment utilization, and ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives are achieved.

Success in this role requires effective leadership, sound business judgment, and the ability to drive performance improvements through process optimization, employee engagement, and lean manufacturing principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Health & Safety

  • Enforce all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture focused on reducing incidents and workplace risks.
  • Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company standards.

Production Operations

  • Establish and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production goals.
  • Develop and implement workflows and procedures that improve efficiency while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Communicate production performance, challenges, and opportunities to leadership.
  • Manage labor costs and production output to achieve operational targets.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet customer demand and budget requirements.
  • Cross-train employees across production processes and equipment to support workforce flexibility and operational continuity.
  • Lead and support production teams to meet productivity, quality, and financial objectives.
  • Foster a positive and high-performing team environment aligned with organizational values.

Planning & Scheduling

  • Partner with scheduling and operations teams to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to production schedules.
  • Coordinate resources and labor to support production requirements and customer commitments.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance metrics and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support initiatives related to quality improvement, cost reduction, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness.

Team Member Development

  • Facilitate employee training and development programs.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with production leads and supervisors.
  • Manage performance evaluations and coaching activities.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, employee development, and termination processes.
  • Mentor and develop team members to support succession planning and organizational growth.

Facility Management

  • Support efforts to maximize the efficiency, cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure production equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with established procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support operational initiatives and special projects as needed.

Performance may be measured using, but not limited to, the following metrics:

  • On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Throughput
  • Cycle Time
  • Changeover Time
  • Takt Time
  • Downtime vs. Operating Time
  • Equipment Utilization
  • First Pass Yield (FPY)
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Overtime Rate
  • Customer Returns
  • Direct Margin (Percentage and Dollars)
  • Gross Profit Margin (Percentage and Dollars)

Qualifications & Experience



Required

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing leadership experience with a demonstrated history of improving operational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and labor management.
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Financial management and budget planning experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and manufacturing software applications.

Preferred

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement certification(s).
  • Experience implementing process improvement initiatives and performance management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing optimization techniques and operational metrics.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and operational demands.

Integrated Management System (IMS) Requirements

This position is responsible for complying with all applicable Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Employees must follow established procedures, support quality and environmental objectives, report nonconformities or environmental concerns, participate in required training, and contribute to continual improvement initiatives.
