Import Operations Agent (Entry Level)
Location: Chelsea, MA

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import Operations Agent to join our growing logistics team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in international transportation, supply chain, or freight forwarding. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day coordination of import shipments, ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and exceptional customer service.
This role requires the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment, maintain strong time management skills, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail when handling shipment records and import documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and track international import shipments from origin to final delivery.
- Communicate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, warehouses, and customs brokers regarding shipment status and requirements.
- Review, process, and maintain import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs-related paperwork.
- Enter and update shipment information in company operating systems.
- Monitor shipment milestones and proactively address delays or service issues.
- Ensure all shipment data is accurate and complete to support compliance requirements.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with vendor invoicing, shipment reconciliation, and file maintenance.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required;
- Previous customer service, administrative, logistics, or transportation experience is a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
