Duties
- Engage with customers to understand their optical needs and recommend suitable eyewear, contact lenses, or vision solutions.
- Educate customers on the features and benefits of various lenses, frames, and optical accessories while emphasizing proper eye health practices.
- Operate retail point-of-sale systems accurately, handle transactions efficiently, and manage retail math to meet sales goals.
- Assist in maintaining a well-organized sales floor, ensuring displays are attractive and inventory is stocked appropriately.
- Support laboratory processes such as lens fitting, adjustments, and verifying prescriptions with precision.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Promote a welcoming environment for all customers, including those in senior care or pediatrics, ensuring personalized service tailored to their needs.
Qualifications
- Prior retail sales experience with a strong understanding of retail math and customer service excellence preferred, but willing to train.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health.
- Laboratory experience or optical experience is highly desirable; familiarity with optical equipment is a plus.
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and billing procedures.
