Aerial Fiber Lineman
Ultimate Internet Access Inc. is a trusted, locally-owned leader in telecommunications, providing high-speed fiber internet to communities across Southern California, including Wrightwood. Since 1996, we have been committed to delivering reliable, high-quality services and expanding our 8 Gig fiber network to connect more homes and businesses in the area.
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Aerial Fiber Lineman to join our crew and help install, maintain, and expand our aerial telecommunications infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you will work directly with fiber optic cables while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Climb utility poles and operate bucket trucks to install, lash, dead-end, guy, and transfer aerial fiber optic cables, including proper mid-span slack management and pole framing.
- Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of aerial fiber plant and associated hardware.
- Safely use climbing gear, hand tools, rigging systems, bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Follow all OSHA regulations, NESC standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices at all times.
- Read and interpret construction prints, schematics, and work orders to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Document daily work activities and assist with project updates as needed.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet project goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety and help promote a zero-incident workplace.
Qualifications
- Experience in pole climbing, aerial fiber installation, and telecommunications or utility line work.
- Solid experience working with fiber optic cables, lashing, and aerial plant construction.
- Proficient in the use of climbing gear, bucket trucks, rigging, and hand tools.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required (Class A preferred).
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to climb poles, lift heavy equipment, and work at heights in all weather conditions, including mountainous terrain.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to safety.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification and OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred.
- Clean safety record with demonstrated commitment to following safety protocols.
