- Serves in the absence of the district superintendent as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the BOCES; provides leadership to support the vision and mission of BOCES; assists the District Superintendent in the functions and responsibilities for the Sole Supervisory District of Ulster County.
- Assists in the Business Office, personnel, and Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center functions within the BOCES.
- Assists the District Superintendent in the supervision of assigned leadership.
- Assists the District Superintendent in labor relations and collective bargaining matters, the interpretation of commissioner’s regulations, board policies, administrative regulations and directives of the District Superintendent.
- Assists in coordinating staff work in preparation of board meeting agendas and monthly Program Reports.
- Assists in the preparation and administration of the BOCES budget, Annual Report and collection of divisional data for the annual performance portfolio; assists in the presentation of such proposals at budget meetings and in other forums.
- Assists the District Superintendent in liaison activities with local school superintendents and other school officials concerning BOCES programs and services.
- Plans and administers an efficient system of recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all certificated personnel.
- Assumes a leadership position in the county for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs, staff development programs, and curriculum development; chairs and coordinates county Instructional Advisory Council; conducts needs assessment in county with components; designs new programs based upon county needs.
- Assumes responsibility for the quality of instruction in all BOCES student programs with emphasis on pedagogy, curriculum and improved student performance.
- Serves as a member of the Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center’s Advisory Council.
- Works with his/her counterparts in other BOCES to explore collaborative efforts.
- Serves as a member of the District Superintendent’s team conducting school registration reviews (SURR).
- Remains abreast of developments and innovations in the field by reading current literature, attending professional meetings and conferences.
- Responds to requests from SED, with the approval of the district superintendent, for information, meetings and other concerns.
- Prepares and submits reports and other documents as required by the district superintendent and the Board of Education.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for New York State School District Administrator certification, and must reside in or be willing to relocate to New York State.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the overall organization and general administration of programs and services for the component districts within the framework set by the District Superintendent
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
New York State SDA or SDL Certification. Ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate work of professionals and administrators. Knowledge of the role, mission, procedures, and organization of BOCES; knowledge of education law and the regulations of the State of New York that govern BOCES operations. Broad knowledge of both central and program administrative policies and procedures. Experience as a superintendent is not essential, but desirable.
