Construction Truck Driver, CDL

TRUCK DRIVER

This is a Union position. Teamster

SUMMARY: Performs skilled and basic work in the operation of heavy trucks and other equipment; and performs related duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Operates dump trucks and other like vehicles to support a variety of construction and maintenance projects.
2. Performs daily routine preventive maintenance and servicing (e.g., refuels, checks fluid levels, hoses, signal operation, brakes, and lights) and refers major repairs.
3. Drives vehicle within designated route or in accordance with established schedule.
4. Perform additional assignments as requested including ongoing in person or online training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
2. Knowledge of operation of a variety of heavy and light equipment and vehicles.
3. Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
4. Skill in following oral and written instructions.
5. Skill in operating and working around moving equipment.
6. Skill in operating and performing preventive maintenance on designated equipment.
7. Ability to follow safety practices and recognizing hazards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves moderate work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to sit, stand, manipulate controls and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and 12 months of truck driving experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Minnesota driver’s license and CDL class B or A with the required endorsements is required.   A valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate and a clean driving record are required.

End-Dump, Side-Dump or Belly-Dump driver experience preferred.
