Job Description

Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals is seeking a talented and driven AI Engineer to join our growing IT team at our Corporate Headquarters in North Haven, CT. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions that enhance our products and services. You’ll work closely with employees and SME’s from across the company.  This role combines software engineering, machine learning, and data science to deliver practical, production‑ready AI capabilities.

 Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and implement machine learning and/or generative AI models for operational and office applications;
• Assess business systems and departments to identify procedures that would benefit from AI processes and use cases;
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate models, frameworks, and architecture based on business requirements;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into production systems;
• Implement AI algorithms using approved frameworks;
• Document models, assumptions, and decision logic;
• Maintain and improve existing AI pipelines and infrastructure; and
• Stay current with the latest AI research and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field;
• Two years of related experience with designing, developing and deploying AI-powered solutions in a business environment;
• Experience in AI/ML development and deployment;
• Proficiency in Python (preferred), C, R, Java or similar as well as one or more ML frameworks;
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and model evaluation;
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills;
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot preferred; and
• Experience with data security preferred.
