We have an exciting opportunity for an Insights Specialist at UL Standards & Engagement. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Washington, DC.
The Insights Specialist will support the execution of qualitative and quantitative research initiatives to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Insights Specialist will help generate meaningful, evidence-based insights, through support of market research studies, as well as pattern and trend analysis across multiple data sources to inform strategic decision making. The Insights Specialist will coordinate research activities, maintain knowledge resources, and support effective delivery of high-quality insights that enable the organization to anticipate emerging issues, and drive continuous impact across the safety standards ecosystem.

What You’ll Learn And Achieve
As the Insights Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
- Support qualitative and quantitative research initiatives that help inform strategic priorities, market understanding, and organizational decision making. Assist and independently manage assigned research projects and activities from planning through delivery.
- Support the design and implementation of research studies, including surveys, secondary analysis, focus groups, in-depth interviews, environmental scans and other relevant research approaches to gather insightful data and ensure high-quality research outcomes.
- Collect, organize, and manage research inputs from internal and external sources, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and appropriate documentation throughout the research process.
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative analysis using appropriate tools and methodologies, including coding, thematic analysis, trend identification, comparative analysis, and other relevant methods.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather relevant inputs, clarify research needs, and support the development of high-quality insights. Translate research findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights through summaries, reports, presentations and other support resources.
- Coordinate activities among internal teams, external research partners, consultants and other contributors engaged in designated Insights initiatives.
- Maintain and organize internal repository of research findings, data resources, reports, and reference materials relevant to categories of safety science.
- Support planning and scheduling of key research activities. Maintain Insights team calendar and track critical milestones, interviews, focus groups, and deliverables.
- Make notable contributions to shared team goals and independently manage workload effectively, using appropriate communication and adherence to deliverable and timeline expectations.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, advancements in research methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness and innovation of our qualitative research practices.

- Demonstrated knowledge in market research methodologies with strong analytical capability and ability support qualitative and quantitative studies using structured and disciplined approaches.
- Ability to interpret data, identify themes and trends, and convert findings into practical, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Proficiency in project management with experience developing project timelines, scope, and managing project resources. Ability to apply independent judgement in selecting methods, assessing results, and refining solutions.
- Effective communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with ability to convey complex information to various stakeholder group, including technical and non-technical audiences.
- Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills, able to foster partnership and drive internal knowledge sharing across teams or functions.
- Strategic thinker with ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape
- Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience in insights, data analysis, market research or related field involving qualitative and quantitative research support.
- Experience supporting or managing research activities such as surveys, secondary analysis, focus groups, interviews and data synthesis.
- Proficiency with Excel and common research, survey and data analysis tools such as Qualtrics, SPSS, R, Python, or Tableau.
