Senior Laboratory Technician - Automotive EMC

Job Description

This is an onsite role requiring 5 days per week onsite in Novi, MI.

Responsibilities

• Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
• Evaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test and data sheets and reviews test and construction data with supervisor and/or lab work requestor as appropriate.
• Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.
• Directs, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.
• Trains staff in test setups and test methods.
• Initiates recommendations for new equipment designs and recommends solutions to observed test problems.
• Operates designated machines and special laboratory equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
• Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory personnel.
• Communicates with clients during the setup and performance of a test to demonstrate or otherwise illustrate equipment test methods and/or to discuss test results.
• May communicate with UL field representatives to discuss follow-up tests, samples, equipment, methods and/or results.
• Communicates with the appropriate department personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs.
• Records observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms and prepare data sheets and test reports.
• Plans tests, evaluates test results and reports opinions and interpretations.
• May assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.
• Provides training and assist others in the laboratory.
• Reads and understands test standards and testing technology for specific tests.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
• Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
• Performs other duties as directed.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree, trade school, or some college education preferred.
• 2 years of experience in with electronics in quality testing, laboratory testing, or similar.
• Proficiency with basic measurement and testing equipment.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
  
  

What we offer:

• Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-80,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
