Position Summary / Career Interest: Pharmacy automation device administration provides design, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support services for pharmacy automation devices. Pharmacy Automation Device Administrators are responsible for maintaining end-to-end knowledge of, assessing the impact of organizational change on, and identifying opportunities to provide improved safety and optimization strategies for the health system. Pharmacy Automation Device Inventory: Maintains an inventory of pharmacy devices and maintains up to date information regarding location, status, security posture, life-cycle phase, ongoing maintenance, etc. Responsibilities: Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Implementation and Go-live Support: Performs implementation, integration, and connectivity tasks in concert with vendor resources and other internal teams as needed. Provides go-live support for new devices. Vendor Management: Communicates effectively with pharmacy automation vendor(s) to maintain working relationships and proper systems support. Verifies vendor actions meet the expectations of the hospital. Coordination with Vendor and other internal stakeholders: Assists as needed on general equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM), installs, and end-of-life planning. System Support: Maintains usable systems for end-users with the ability to work with vendors or other outside resources as well as internal hospital teams to resolve system issues within service level agreements. Decommissioning: Documents and performs end-of-life tasks to decommission pharmacy automation devices Coordinates these tasks with appropriate teams such as Biomed, Desktop Support, and Asset Management. Training: Performs training tasks for fellow team members and technical staff. Develops training content as needed for upgrades and general end user functionality as needed. Safety: Works with the medication safety team and other end users to continuously improve our safety practices. This also includes, but is not limited to regular safety evaluations, implementing look alike sound alike strategies, etc. Medication Inventory Management: Develop and maintain an inventory management strategy. This would include working with the local site owners and other team members as needed to review cost savings opportunities, cost avoidance opportunities, etc. Pharmacy Automation Device Documentation: Contributes and maintains common troubleshooting tips in the designated knowledge base. Keeps current vendor and system data owner’s contact information in the designated location. Maintains relevant training materials and other relevant materials as needed. System Updates and Upgrades: Responsibilities include assist in planning and scheduling pharmacy automation device upgrades and updates. This also includes coordination with HITS teams, vendors, users, interfaces, and other systems that feed or accept information from these devices. Follows department change request processes. Troubleshooting: Basic problem-solving skills and capabilities to resolve pharmacy automation devices issues under stressful conditions. Uses appropriate methods of escalation to both internal and external resources. Hardware: Responsibilities include knowledge on the basic components of the machines, how to fix the top problems with the cabinets and assist other team members as needed. Data Analysis and Scorecard Creation: Be able to successfully pull pertinent data from the pharmacy automation software and other platforms to create scorecards and other presentations for stakeholders and other team members. Optimization: Works with stakeholders to improve the end user experience through cabinet inventory optimization, stockout reduction, improved cabinet efficiency and improved cabinet safety. Project Management: Functions as a project manager on projects. Ensure appropriate request for funding are completed. Coordinate other resources as required to complete the project. Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS Required: High School Diploma Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Kansas Associate’s Degree in Information Systems or related field or 2:1 equivalent experience.
