Must be able to work 3rd shift overnight (7:00pm to 6:00am) and some weekends


A meat processing overnight sanitation job description involves deep-cleaning, sanitizing, and inspecting industrial meat-cutting equipment and processing rooms during off-hours to meet strict federal food safety standards.

To be vigilant regarding the sanitation conditions and protocols. Ther primary goal is to ensure that products meet rigorous standards while maintaining a safe, compliant work environment for all.


Key Responsibilities
    • Equipment Care: Disassemble, wash, sanitize, and reassemble heavy meat-processing machinery, conveyors, and food-contact surfaces. 
    • Chemical Handling: Mix, dilute, and apply industrial caustic chemicals and sanitizers safely using high-pressure hoses and specialized tools. 
    • Regulatory Compliance: Follow strict guidelines including USDA, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) protocols. 
    • Testing and Documentation: Inspect clean areas, run organic or bacterial swab tests, and complete sanitation paperwork and compliance logs. 
    • Waste Removal: Clear organic waste, debris, and packaging materials to maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace
    • Needs to be vigilant on being able to pick up on the sanitation conditions of plant.
    • Needs to be able to work interdepartmentally with management.
    • Must be punctual.
    • Needs to know and understand GMP’s and SSOPs.
    • Needs to be HACCP trained and understand all CCP requirements and CAPA.
    • Collect prior day’s CCP, SSOP, and other documents required for review. Check them for accuracy and completion. 
    Physical and Environmental Requirements
    • Environment: Work in cold, wet, damp, and sometimes freezing production rooms (temperatures can drop below 32°F).
    • Physical Demand: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift heavy weights (often 50 to 70 lbs) for extended night shifts.
    • Schedule: Typically overnight shifts (e.g., 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM), working independently or on a team without constant supervision

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
     
    • High school diploma: or equivalent. 
    • Minimum 1 year of food industrial/product development lab experience required. Internships will be considered as experience. 
    • Strong strategic planning, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Understanding or Payroll systems, HRIS systems, Labor Laws
    • Leadership & Team Development: Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and coach, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
    • Ability to assess and manage conflict resolution, multitasking, interpersonal skills, and the highest form of confidentiality.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside a central heated and air-conditioned office building. There may be a need to enter and walk through a manufacturing setting and wear appropriate PPE. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Manufacturing facility is refrigerated.
