Provides direct supervision and oversight to all Facility Leads, Front Desk Attendants, and Facility Attendants. Assists students in the implementation of building procedures and daily operations. Chairs the hiring, interviewing, and training processes. Manages work assignments and professional development opportunities to enhance overall student experience in the recreation center. Enforces participant disciplinary issues, crises, and emergency intervention issues within the facility.
Leads the development, implementation, and oversight of a wide variety of fitness and wellness programs for health promotion, group fitness, wellness education, personal training, fitness assessments, instructional programming, workshops, special events (5K, Health & Wellness Fair, Exercise is Medicine), skill development, and wellbeing.
Provides direct supervision and oversight to all Group Fitness Instructors, Personal Trainers, and Fitness Assessment Technicians. Manages work assignments and professional development trainings to develop strategies to enhance overall student educational fitness and wellness programming and performance. Chairs the hiring, interviewing, and training processes.
Manages all Campus Recreation outreach to advertise program areas of events of Campus Recreation. This includes updating the Campus Recreation website, including the new accessibility requirements. Manages Campus Recreation social media. This includes being in compliance with new accessibility laws and attending regular campus meetings.
Marketing - Implements marketing efforts to advertise all program areas and events (e.g. Digital TV)
Manages all TRAC memberships for faculty, staff and non-UIS patrons. Maintains accurate records of membership agreements, payments, and member details. Assisted with development and continued maintenance of the new software program for TRAC (memberships, equipment checkouts, student counts).
Represents the department at a variety of committees and meetings. Fosters strong collegial relationships in Student Affairs and throughout the campus. Represents the department at recruitment activities (e.g. Preview Days, Orientations).
Responsible for maintaining strength and fitness equipment as well as purchasing and trades within the facility. Researches the best equipment for department needs. Manages the equipment repair logs and working with all appropriate vendors. Maintains budget for Group Fitness operations, Personal Training operations, Special Events operations, and Wellness programming operations.
Maintains the Star Bike checkout program and assists with Special Events programming.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Instructs CPR classes for student employees, Athletics staff, and the UIS campus community.
Leads student staff development and retention efforts for staff trainings and appreciation events (e.g. EOM, End of Year Party, Fall Training)
