What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Crew Chief position at Uintah Engineering & Land Surveying : UELS?
Uintah is looking for an experienced Crew Chief local to Sidney, MT. The Team Member in the Crew Chief position stakes well locations, surveys section corners, establishes section corners, and stakes access roads which may include slope staking access roads and well location pads. The Crew Chief is responsible daily for survey assistant(s) on the crew. Safe Workplace Practice is expected and is a responsibility of each UELS employee.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Stakes pipelines and pipeline right-of-ways.
- Prepares topographic surveys and x-sectioning.
- Performs mathematical calculations; field checking & field data.
- Takes accurate and clear notes and performs note reduction.
- Reads and understands plans and specifications.
- Performs Quality Control on all work.
- Maintains Company equipment and Company vehicle.
- Completes timely & accurate accounting of all time and expense activity.
- Meets with clients and public landowners as a representative of the Company.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have 1-3 years of experience
- Must be local to Sidney, MT
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, including a background in math, geometry, and/or trigonometry
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a Level I Crew Chief position.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Surveying Industry; good knowledge of sources of measurement errors; demonstrated understanding of monumentation, staking and marking.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient math and computer skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills (courtesy, discretion & sound judgment); good planning & organizational skills; proactive, positive and professional approach and attitude with the ability to be adaptable and flexible; work effectively as a team contributor on assignments; detail oriented.
MVR (Motor Vehicle Report):
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license with MVR that meets Company requirements throughout the duration of employment

- Must be flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 75 lbs. Must be Honest Professional, Organized, Pay Attention to Detail, Dependable, Thorough, Possess Excellent Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Safety Conscious, Strong Work Ethic, Self-driven with little or no supervision.

Working Conditions:
- Mental and physical labors are a part of this job. Working conditions could be indoor or outdoor and the job is subject to extreme weather conditions. Must be able to walk for long periods of time and/or operate ATVs through a variety of terrains.
