***Weed Control Sprayer***
*Seasonal position - 480 hours *
**GENERAL PURPOSE**
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties as needed to assist with the carrying out of the county weed control program.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
Performs tasks necessary for the control of noxious weeds by the Utah Noxious Weed Act and the Uintah County Weed Control Rules and Regulations.
Be able to accurately identify weed species on Utah's and Uintah County's noxious weed list; assist with surveying, mapping, and controlling noxious weeds.
Operates and maintains a variety of equipment such as trucks, ATVs, chemical sprayers, trailers, and GPS; calibrates and cleans spraying equipment; performs preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment such as oil changes.
Responsibly operates herbicide application equipment on public and private lands such as rights-of-way, canal banks, rangeland, and pastures; follows state and federal regulations when mixing and applying herbicides assuring control of noxious weeds while minimizing harm to off-target vegetation and preventing harm to animals, humans, and the environment.
Calculates chemical application rates; mixes various herbicides in the spraying units according to manufacturer labeling; assesses environmental and social conditions that may affect applications of herbicide.
Documents all herbicide applications; services rendered to property owners; and applications made to public properties; prepares and submits daily reports to supervisor.
May assist with the collection/distribution of biological controls, primarily insects; as per USDA-APHIS regulations, to applicable noxious weeds; document each activity.
May assist in communicating with the public regarding laws, ordinances, and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
b. One (1) year of general labor experience;
OR
c. An equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Qualifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Utah State driver's license and have a clean driving record.
Must possess or acquire within two (2) weeks of hire, a commercial or non-commercial applicator license which includes the agricultural-plant and right-of-way categories.

$17.24 an hour

- 1. Must be 18 years of age and a graduate or near graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent;
b. One (1) year of general labor experience;
